DesignStyle guides, prompt sheets and art checks for a game

Game art director

Tell it about your game and it writes the style guide: art pillars, a palette with a hex value and a role for every colour, line and lighting rules. It turns that into prompt sheets you paste into your own image tool, specs the canvas sizes, frame counts, grids and naming before anything gets made, then measures the art that comes back for palette drift, grid errors and stray anti-aliasing. It also slices and packs sprite sheets into atlases your engine can read; it does not generate the images itself.

What it does

  • Writes a style guide with art pillars, a locked palette in hex and rules for line, light and shading
  • Turns the guide into prompt sheets you paste into your own image tool, and fixes them when a batch comes back off-style
  • Specs sprites and tiles: canvas sizes, frame counts, pivots, grids, padding, naming and engine import settings
  • Measures finished art for palette drift, grid and canvas errors, stray anti-aliasing and readability at game size
  • Slices, packs, trims, rescales and recolours sprite sheets, and builds atlases and animation previews
  • Keeps a shot list of assets still to make and reviews new art each week if you want

The skills it brings

Playbooks the mate follows when the job calls for them. You can read and edit every one after adding it.

/gad-setupgad-setupUse on the first conversation, or when memory holds no game prefs, or when the game, engine or look changes, to learn the game and its look and put a first draft style guide in front of the person.
/gad-style-guidegad-style-guideUse when the look of the game needs pinning down or revising: art pillars, references, a palette with hex values and roles, line, light and shading rules, or a guide to hand to an artist or an image tool.
/gad-prompt-sheetsgad-prompt-sheetsUse when the person wants wording to paste into their own image tool to get art that matches the style guide, or when a batch came back off-style and the prompts need fixing.
/gad-asset-specsgad-asset-specsUse when the person needs the numbers before art gets made: canvas sizes, animation frame counts and timing, pivots, tile grids, seam and padding rules, naming and engine import settings.
/gad-consistency-checkgad-consistency-checkUse when the person hands over art, or the weekly art review runs, to measure whether it holds together: palette drift, canvas and grid errors, stray anti-aliasing, outline and light consistency, naming and readability at game size.
/gad-sheet-toolkitgad-sheet-toolkitUse when the person has sprite sheets or loose frames that need slicing, packing, trimming, renaming, whole-number rescaling, recolouring to the palette, an atlas their engine can read, or an animation preview.
